Bamboo – Excavation and installation of a Vertical Barrier
Southwest Knotweed conducted the excavation of a large stand of Bamboo containing two varieties: Phyllostachys Aurea (Golden bamboo) or variant thereof & Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Spectabilis’ (Crook Stem bamboo) or variant thereof. A vertical barrier was then installed to prevent re-encroachment.
The objective was to excavate the Bamboo with a micro excavator, digging to a depth of between 300mm – 600mm, methodically screening out and removing Bamboo rhizome. On completion, a trench was then dug to a depth of approximately 600mm and a vertical barrier inserted (specifically manufactured for Bamboo remediation). The trench was then backfilled.
On completion of the excavation process, Southwest Knotweed soft landscaped the areas excavated and loaded the green waste, ready to be transported off-site to a commercial Green Waste Centre.
Southwest Knotweed will now carry out an inspection follow-up visit, taking place in November 2023. Any regrowth situated on the inside of the barrier will be treated with Pelargonic acid in conjunction with a Systemic Herbicide.
